What would have been the best retort to the following situation?

A manager at work help me do something and obviously thought he was being bothered and was irritated.

At the end, he said to me curtly, "buddy".

What would of been a good retort?

    If you think a retort is the best way to handle a manger helping you with something, you're going to have a hard time in life.

    Retort:  a sharp, angry, or wittily incisive reply to a remark
