volvo has a reputation for reliability and safety, if your gonna be involved in a car accident you cant do much better than being snug as a bug in a volvo

Actual TV series? could be propman had old Volvo with camera's and used it for various different shows from same studio. A few shows had book series and character in book had particular car- Peter Falk in Columbo had a old Peugot because book had him driving it as all he could afford after divorce. Same Peugot was used in at least 2 other episodes of another series because propman had it handy, already set up with camera and mikes. SO, ACTUAL MULTIPLE TV SERIES or just one show? PV544 Volvo had general look of 1940s Ford and was used in some low budget hot rod episodes/teen hot rod short movies.

Americans never pay attention to stuff like that. They only care about fast cars and gas-guzzling trucks. You give us too much credit for our ability to grasp symbolism.

Don't know what TV series you have been watching, but in my experience, very few television characters drive old Volvos.
