where is the cabin air filter on a Volvo c70, 2007 ?
I do not think the cabin air filter has been replaced in my 2007 Volvo C70. I have searched on line, and have been assured that it is accessible under the glove compartment, under the brake pedal and under the hood at the bottom of the windshield. (complete with pictures)
I cannot find anything like this under the brake pedal (an unlikely place) or under the the glove compartment and I am having difficulty removing the screen on the bottom of the windshield. I was shown pictures of the screws to remove, but mine is held on with plastic pins that seem to be designed to snap in and not to be removed (without breaking) .
This sounds like a simple DIY job, but ..........I am getting frustrated Any real life help will be apprecieated. Thanks
.
Thanks Nywholes, but this sounds like some of the info I found on the internet and it just does not match my car.
Under my glove compartment , there is a 2in strip that includes the floor light. This runs from the passenger door, across underneath the glove compartment over to the centre consul. The rest of the area above the foot well is covered with a black felt held on by 2 clips that can be removed by pushing in the centre of the clip and pulling down at the edge. When the felt is removed, there is a batch of electronic "things" , but nothing that could be a filter... I have seen pictures of what it is supposed to look like, but mine is not the same.. Thanks for trying.
If I do not get an answer that seems to fit, I will try taking pictures and uploading them.
Thanks Repairpal. There seems to be nothing under the dash except for electrical 'things', so I assume it is up under the cowl. Then the trouble is getting the screen off. No screws, just push-in pins and no obvious way to remove them.

The cabin filter is under the drivers side of the dash, to the right of the electronic throttle pedal, basically in the middle of the car. Removing the throttle pedal will make it much easier to remove, but it's still a pain in the you-know-what. Should be 3 screws on the filter cover. Prepare for some good scratched-up arms and hands.

Well the C70 up to 2005 was under the cowl, between the windshield and the engine compartment, on the passenger side. Not sure about the 2007, I know they changed the body around then so they may have relocated it.
If it is under the glove box, when you pull the felt down, you wont see the filter, you'll see a rectangular door, and behind that door would be the filter.

Advice is offered AS-IS and please know your limitations before breaking something.
The first step is to remove the kick panel at the bottom of the glove box. The are two Phillips screws that hold the panel in place already partially out. Remove the two Phillips screws and to work the kick panel out, slide it to the right to clear the vent on the left then set the panel out of the way.
With the kick panel out of the way, you need to push in on the clip that holds the bottom of the filter in place and pull it down. A small screw driver may be needed to help pry it down with the clip pushed in.
Disconnect the bottom retainer and move it out of the way. Next grab the two plastic tips hanging down and use this to help you pull the filter down out of the climate control box. As you work the filter down, you will want to bend it to the right as you pull it down.
After you have worked the old filter down and out the only thing left is to put the new filter in.
