I am thinking of buying xfx , palit or zotac's 9800gt grahics card. Please Tell me if these cards will be able to run gta 4, modern warfare 2, crysis warhead, nfs shift, dirt 2 at high settings with fast gameplay with no lags with my pc specs at- 2.50ghz dual core cpu, 2x 2gb ddr2 ram, asus p5kplamps motherboard. Also tell me which brand is better among the three i have listed.

your gonna need upgrade your ram to least 4 gigs and if wanna play on high setings gonna need to buy an even beter card say like ati Radeon HD 4870 or 5850 or one the nvidia GTX 260 higher up cards.

but as for lag your systems not the fastest but it'll get by it might not play at full specs but anyway upgrade your ram and go for one those cards also if your runing xp upgrade to win 7 its worth the upgrade.

the 9800gt is a decent card, but it's still rather outdated.

xfx seems the be the most popular brand out of the 3 you mentioned, but it's still the same card. maybe it would be pre-overclocked for you, or maybe one company has a better returns policy than the other, or some other reason. i'd go with the zotac 9800gt because it seems to be the cheapest. i've seen it go for $93 on newegg. the xfx 9800gt, i've seen for $120-130. i don't know anything about the palit 9800gt, though.

if you want to lay those games at high or maximum settings, i suggest getting one of the 5800 series cards. a 5850 (about $300 now) or a 5870 ($400) should do the job well.

how do you know whether to choose the 5850 or 5870? well, here are a few things you should know:

-both are dual-slot cards, meaning they take up 2 of the slots you see on the back of your pc. perhaps you're getting the 9800gt because the other cards wouldn't fit into

-the 5850 is an inch smaller than the 5870. many people have reported that the 5870 is just a bit too large to fit into their case, so that inch can make the difference.

-the 5850 is about 10-20% slower than the 5870, but, by no means is it a "slow" card.

-the 5870 and 5850 should both be able to run most (if not all) games on high or maximum settings. knowing this, it might not be worth paying the extra $100 to get 20% more performance out of the card, seeing as the 5850 is fast enough already.

in any case, if you still want to get the 9800gt, make sure you don't buy the xfx version for $120 (or $130). if you do that, you might as well have bought the hd 4850 (which is about $120 now), which is faster than the 9800gt.

also, i don't know exactly how good your processor is, but it might need to be upgraded if you want to play the games at high or maximum settings.

either way, with the 9800gt and your current pc specifications, you can still count on being able to play those games at medium settings with no lag.
