What tint percentage should I get?

I have a black 2014 Nissan Altima I was going to tint my windows but I’m not sure what percent is illegal in New York to pass the inspection. Or even what percentage is good in general?

I think tinting the front windows and windscreen over 10% is stupid and dangerous unless you never drive in the dark.
Rear sides, anything you like but I think over 50% looks pretentious.
Back 50% max or you will miss dark cars in your mirror.

I think 35% would be legal. 35% is the limit in Massachusetts

You should assume your windows are partially tinted already as most are, so don't add tinting that matches the legal spec as it will combine with the existing tint to block more light.
