Can you explain why my PC sometimes shuts down automatically and reboots immediately? What is the solution?

I get a notice--The system recovered from a serious error.A log has been created.

It occurs once in two months or sometimes oftener. but not too frequent to disrupt working. Mine is Windows XP home edition--original. I have two browsers--IE and Mozilla. I have two antivirus softwares installed--McAfee and Avira. I have back up UPS system. Normally no forced shut downs--except when the rebooting occurs and it is followed by file check. The windows had been installed 4 years ago. No major Virus attack.

This happens usually just before getting connected to the Internet.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I can tell you that the same thing happened to me...constantly. It got to the point where I couldn't use the computer at all, since it would shut down the minute I tried to do anything. I couldn't stop it from continually rebooting unless I unplugged it. I also had Windows XP and McAfee. My computer was an emachine. The service tech could not figure it out, since it never did it when I brought it in. I finally ended up getting rid of it and getting a new one. Interestingly enough, the person I gave it to (who likes to tinker with old computers) had no trouble with it at all for a year. People suggested it might be the power supply, but at that point I had already sunk too much money into it and just wanted to get rid of it. I tried everything, believe me, but at the end it wouldn't stay on long enough for me even to delete my files. I had to remove the hard drive. I find there are many questions online about this problem (it seems rather common) but no solutions.

hi! whilst a working laptop or pc restarts on that is very own, there are countless possable motives. whilst it restarts, do you get any errors messages? if so, study over the message heavily, for it might desire to have some usefull innovations as to why your pc is doing what that is. If there are no errors messages, the simplest challenge to do could be to open up the pc (unplugged), take compressed air and blow it into the case and followers. maximum individuals do no longer realize it, whether that is reccomended that the case is unfolded and compressed air is blown into it approximately as quickly as a 300 and sixty 5 days. If this does not resolve your subject, in case you are able to, swap the potential grant with one which you realize is robust. in case you are able to, attempt to locate one with the comparable specs. If no longer, in no way put in one that produces much less potential. using one that can produce extra won't harm the pc, because of the fact it in simple terms produces what it needs to, to run the pc. If this does not artwork, then the subject would be slightly extra in touch. you are able to visit my website that lists my touch innovations and can provide a loose chat with me. My website and loose chat links are listed under. solid luck!
