Frontline and medicated shampoo?

I treated my dogs with Frontline yesterday and it says to wait 24 hours before bathing. It's been a little over 24 now. The question is would it be OK to use medicated shampoo? I want to use medicated shampoo to help relieve the itch from the old flea bites. I know the easiest would be to call the vet and ask but it's a military vet and it isn't as simple as calling and getting someone to answer the phone.

Thanks in advance.

It depends on what kind of "medicated" shampoo you are using. If it is flea shampoo, do not use it. You should never double-dose on similar medications, and both frontline and flea shampoo are insecticides.

If it's an "itch-relief" shampoo, it's probably OK. But you're probably better off not shampooing the dog at all since it will wash some of the frontline off. If the dog is having a terrible reaction to the flea bites, a small amount of children's benadryl would be good (adjust how much you give the dog based on the dog's weight - see the link below) and probably work better than the shampoo, since it will actually stop the reaction to the flea bites.

I have been told not to double treat the dog.

In this case using frontline is one treatment and then using flea shampoo is another treatment for the fleas. I would go with a all natural shampoo that wont harm the dog like earth bath products.

what kind fo medicated shampoo? if your talking about flea shampoo i wouldnt just in case it reacts with the frontline. just use a moisturizing shampoo, and if there are some spots that they have scratched red, then use calamine lotion, it really helps!
