How is the DePaul University Theatre/Music department?

Is it a hard school to get in? What kind of downsides are there to it? Do they have a big Theatre Arts program? I know they both have a MT and VP program and I can't decide on one of the two.

I applied to their theater program when I graduated high school (back in '01!). They do have a fantastic program but it IS quite hard to get into. I was eventually accepted for Psychology but not theater.

I remember back then that DePaul only took a fraction of the people who auditioned for their program. It's quite a long shot to get into the theater program. I'm not sure about their music program.

I would suggest visiting the campus if it's possible for you and asking one of their admission reps all your questions. Also, another good information source will be the "college guides" (huge like a phone book!) that will be coming out in the fall. Kaplan is usually a good place to start.

Yes, DePaul is very competitive in the Theatre and Music programs. However, they do not have a Musical Theatre program. One of the downsides is that you have to pay more money for tuition if you're in one of those programs.
