Will mask wearing on transportation and airplanes become legally permanent? ?

Will wearing a mask on transportation, airplanes, and airports become permanent even after the pandemic is over and everybody gets vaccinated? With masks now being federal law, will this federal law become permanent and never be lifted? Will airlines always put people on a no fly list if you refuse to wear your mask? Say it's the year 2028 and you board an American Airlines flight without a mask. Will they still heavily enforce the mask wearing? I also wonder how people will keep their masks over their nose and mouths on a transatlantic flight or a 17 hour flight.

I know Spanish Flu had mask wearing, but why does it seem like masks are going to become permanent? I've read many articles on the media that people will continue to wear masks. Why did COVID-19 change the United States forever? It seems like other countries are going back to normal.

I'm seriously freaking out because I can't keep a mask over my nose and mouth for more than 30 minutes. I also feel so bad because children can't keep a mask on too. I feel like it's child abuse for a 2 year old to keep a mask on their nose and mouth. I also feel it's abuse overall to kick a family off the plane because their toddler can't wear a mask.

What has the United States come to? I'm starting to feel other countries have more freedom. I also fear that Mask Force is going to be the new TSA and will screen people for masks.

I'm really scared of what the future holds. I don't to live in a bubble forever.

    Masks are not federal law.

The airlines make their own rules, if they still require masks in 2028 you either wear a mask or you don't fly

What federal law are you referring to? There is only a mandate for masks at government facilities and public transportation systems.

The recommendation is to wear masks until the CDC gives the okay that it is no longer needed. (Approximately 70% vaccination of the population.)

Other countries are going back to normal because they followed the advice of medical professionals and did what was necessary to minimize the spread of the virus.  Masks are not as necessary in those places anymore because there are few to no cases in those areas.

We still have a great deal of transmission here in the US.  Until that dramatically changes, we can expect mask mandates to remain in place on public transportation.  It's especially important in that setting, where people are crowded together in a shared space with little air circulation, and for a potentially long time.

Hopefully enough people will get vaccinated so that we see a dramatic drop in new cases and in transmission.  Until then, plan on wearing your mask.

Probably not but the only way to know is time.

Where are you? There's no federal law in the US about masks. There's a directive for government-owned facililitites. It will be lifted after Biden's first 100 days. They've already lifted the direction in my city.
