If you have a disability and were fired because of it should you go on disability or unemployment?

Let's say you have fibromyalgia bad. In bed 24/7, severe pain, brain fog, physically unable to stand, reading is difficult etc you're basically a vegetable.

Should you try to heal on disability or should you go on unemployment and force yourself through another full time job when you're really sick? I was fired because I kept writing down the wrong information, I couldn't remember anything that someone was telling me because I only get 2-3 hours of broken up sleep a night and I also couldn't even stand up because I felt really dizzy, even passed out twice on the job but my work fired me because I couldn't do the job and it was just an office job answering phones and greeting people. The pain is the issue It's so severe I cry every day and no pain meds help.

I'm trying to heal my body so I'm hoping if I go on disability I can work on that then get a job. I still get a monthly paycheck because I used to have a youtube channel and my videos are still up and earn me $. So I do have a tiny income. I'm 21 and live with my family. They don't really care about me though they just let me stay in my room.

What do you think? Disability or should I go on unemployment and look for a job? I tried working as a rep online in customer service before my office job and I failed that too because I couldn't think straight or had dizzy episodes where I felt spaced out while texting a customer

In the UK  people in your kind of situation go on a benefit called Personal Independence Payment PIP, or Employment Support Allowance for people in your kind of situation. But I don't know if you're in the UK or not

Because of this inability to retain substantially gainful employment due to disability, a person would be unable to collect unemployment. Should you be terminated while on disability and be eligible for unemployment benefits, you should file for these benefits as soon as you recover.

To receive unemployment, you have to have lost your job through no fault of your own and you have to be available to work. You aren't.  So unemployment is not an option.

To get SSDI, you have to be disabled for at least one year.  And you can't be able to do any job, not just the job you were doing.

To get SSI, you have to be self-supporting = you aren't.  Your family provides you your housing and food.

it seems like you are going to have to get your own income some how.

    good luck.

I would caution you to seek alternative choices, other than unemployment or disability welfare.

You are young, with your full life in front of you. You may not see it now, but your life will take you thru many changes, challenges and  experiences.

Seeking a lifetime of welfare handouts will severely limit your choices.

Be careful what you wish for!

That's your choice,  but technically unemployment is temporary and attempts to get you employed.   SSI is not permanent unless your disability is.
