Epson. I have an Epson ET2650 ink tank printer that continues to serve me well for 3 years now. Unlike the cheaper printers that will make a killing of you when it comes to ink cartridges,

If you take an average of the printing speeds of both HP and Epson, then across the board Epson has the better speeds out of the two. However, this is a little unfair, as Epson has more high-grade models than HP. And, many of HP's cheaper models aren't created with speed in mind.

I’ve had my current Epson printer for about 9 years. It cost £35 , had a built in scanner and copier. Apart from photo printing, it does everything you could want.
However, Epson cartridges are expensive , a full set of genuine Epson cartridges for this printer cost MORE than the printer. ( They include a set of cartridges with about 10% of the normal amount of ink with the printer). This is easily solved by buying compatible cartridges on eBay for less than £5 a set.

depends how much you spend under $100 you get a basic color printer but ink cartridges are expensive , over $100 the printers are hade better and the cartridges arent as dear , $300 gets you a great color printer with re-fillable cartridges and duty cycles . depends on you needs and on going costs .

Depends on the model. Some models of HP are better than Epson,, while some models of Epson are better than the matching HP. What you need to do is decide what features you need in the printer and how much you want to spend and compare then two models that neet those features and fit your budget.
But printer technology is the some across all printer. And the components in the printers are all made by the same handful of manufacturers. So there is no najor difference between the leading brands.
