How do you connect a Pixel 4 to a TV?

So I have a USB type C to HDMI converter and I also have a 10 foot long hdmi to hdmi cable. It works with my HP laptop using the USB C converter and then plugging in the hdmi to the tv however it will not work with my Pixel 4 phone to connect to the TV even though the plug fits both devices. I want to connect my phone to the tv so that I can stream movies or games from my apps and see it on the tv screen. Give me some idea please? Anyone had success with connecting Pixel 4 phone to tv via HDMI?

    It is very likely that there is no way to do that.

    Google has taken a page from the Apple playbook and disabled video over USB in order to push casting and the purchase of Chromecast devices.
