Some one sold me a car a lied about many faults see below?

I brought a car he told me there is no issue with car when i first rang him.

Then when he dropped off to my house just before I paid he said Mercedes foot hand brakes are very rubbish and use like this......

He also said when start ignition turn once wait 5 second then turn it will start.

I assumed thats how Mercedes are as I never brought a car before.

It was a £1,100 2003 Mercedes CLK 270.

I have know found out the Mercedes foot hand brake barely works if I parked the car on a hill it will probably roll down.

How do I get my money back ?

I am in UK.

Update:

The ignition is faulty it should start straight away when turning key.

Benz cars are made VERY VERY well ! They are ALWAYS a keeper unless rusted! The MECHANICALS are EXCEOLENT and there is a MILLION MILE CLUB for them! IF you get there, BENZ will give you a FREE CAR!>>>Yours may NOT have been cared for very well and it SOUNDS like you have a BAD FUEL FILTER or a BAD fuel pump re, or even a BAD fuel pressure regulator! Once repaired, ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM!. I have them running around with 350,000 miles on their clocks, BUT i know what they NEED and what they DONT need>>>FOR EXAMPLE>> you cannot use VALVOLINE in them! They require a special FULLY EUROPEAN SYNTHETIC OIL< called 229.003 oil! This is GOOD< however! The opil pans ar3 quite DEEP< and most take about 7 quarts. YOU HAVE NO CONTROL over what there previous owners MAY have done, but the GOOD NEWS is that you can CHEAPLY get it all back>>> as far as your BRAKES go, NERCEDS uses the ATE GIRLING company for BRAKES! They re EXCELLENT ones, too! If your HAND BRAKE doesn't work, you will need NEW PARKING BRAKES pads installed They re CHEAP call 1-800-ALL EURO or BLAUPARTS for these items! IHIGHLY recommend the us of PENNZOIL ULTRA EURO oil that gives you an extra ENGINE warranty out to 500,000 miles! BRAKE repairs are VERY SIMPLE On these cars, and parts are cheaper than CHEVY parts.  Even the PARKING BRAKE cables are adjustable! The PROBLEM always comes in when a NON foreign repair person works on it and uses FLUIDS made for old GM cars! all fluids ARE fully Aurorean AND THE ORIGINAL supplier was PENTOSIN> Even the OIL was PENTOSIN from Germany. Since you are in EUROPE, you  ay still have a FUEL ACCUMULATOR that holds FUEL RPESSURE after car is shut off!>>>INSTALL a new set of DENSO TWIN TIP IRIDIUM spark plugs! There is NOTHING better! Engine will start EASIER and economy and mileage will go UP and emissions will go DOWN! iridium REACTS WITH MODERN FUEL AT THE MOLECULAR LEVEL! everything Else IS just A PLUG!! using Pennzoil ultra euro IS THE best ONE i KNOW OF THO LIQUI MOLY AND motul< AND EVEN am soil ARE EX ELEETN ONES! you cannot use REGUALR wax abased OIL IN HER! have YOUR crankcase ventilation SYSTEM CHECKED OVER, too! this TAKES oil fumes AND burns THEM ALONG WIH COMBUSTION!  we DO not HAVE THE clk 270 IN America<> donor KNOW WHY, BUT BENZ IS NO slouch! they USE TH best SUPPLIERS THEY CQAN FIND! you SHODUL never HAVE ISSUES WITH drive shafts OR wheel bearings< OF THE trans ITHER IF YOU DO A SIMPLE fluid AND filter change USING pentosin OR Rowe! be SURE YOU USE only Benz COOLANT AS WELL AND not UNIVERSAL COOLANT! power flush the old BRAKE FLUID OUT AN Fresh synthetic BRAKE FLUID BACK IN! this WILL PREVENT master cylinder AND caliper ISSUES. You did NOT Gert NURNED on this thing! It will need some POST purchase care now! You can EASILY and cheaply repair the things that BUG YOU here.  Even in America thermae PADS from pad makers is only $25 for the rear set and $45 for the FRONT set. The last for 100,000 at a time!.  Wish you could send me pictures of this car, esp UNDER the HOOD! I have repaired BENZ< AUDI< and BMW cars in America now for more than twenty years! They re EASY to work on and BENZ is the only car maker I know of where iif you use the AC system, the mileage gets BETTER than with it OFF! they RUN THE FUEL LINES THROUGH A CHAMBER THAT HAS THE cold hose RUNINIG THROUGH IT TO chill THE gas! iT'S amazing! i Wanted TO PATENT THIS IDEA, BUT Benz BEAT ME TO IT! The CLK is very special, and again VERY EAT to care for! Once you get over a few hurdles, it will STAY fixec!! I have NO IDEA what the laws and ryes are in your country, but here in AMERICA car repairs are the EASIEST way to get ROBBED and SUCKERED. Be SURE to change AL:: THE FLUIDS as a precaution. AND ACTUALLY read your OWNER;s MANUAL. cover to cover a few times. I have literally restored DOENS of EURIOEAN cars! JAGS, AUDI, BMW, BENZ and even CITOENS in America. You are OFF to a GREAT START here! You will learn ALOT when you ask questions abut it! TO ME they are one of the EASIEST cars to work on! The hood can go STRAIGHT UP VERTIVAL to make it easy to work on! I have BRUSIES on my head from other hoods on other car types! I prefer AUDI< myself, but BENZ uses many of the SAME suppliers, all with good histories and credential!.  GOOD LUCK to you.  You made a GREAT choice! now just TINKER and FIX ER

For £1,100 you cannot expect a faultless car.

    A CLK270 is presumably CLK270CDi with the 5-cyl 2.7 common-rail diesel engine.

All diesel engines have "glow plugs" that pre-heat the combustion chambers inside the engine so that they start. The turn on ignition, wait a few seconds, then start the engine procedure is normal for a diesel. There is an orange light in the instrument cluster that will go out when the engine is ready to start. In warm weather a direct-injection engine like yours will probably need less than 5 seconds, more like 3. Older indirect-injection engines often needed 7 to 10 seconds, longer in cold weather.

I find that if you turn on the ignition, then fasten your seatbelt, by the time you get your hand back to the ignition key the light will be out and you can start the engine.

Some newer diesels, especially with push-button start, appear not to need this delay, but that's because they automatically wait for the glow plugs to do their work before cranking the starter.

On a hill, never trust just the parking brake in any car. Put the car in a low gear against the direction of the slope (manual) or park (automatic) as well as applying the parking brake.

Under UK law, unless you bought it from a dealer or can prove in court that the seller lied, then you have no case. The courts will only expect a faultless car if it is brand new, or nearly new with low miles.

If the guy was truly a private seller, then "Buyer Beware" applies. If he was a trader, and people who sell cars from their homes or on the street often are classed as traders, then he's committed an offence by selling a car that isn't fit for use on the road, and you are entitled to reject the car. Of course getting the money back may not be easy, you might have to get your local Trading Standards Dept. involved, or go  via Small Claims Court process.

    Good Luck!

(probably a trader if he sells more than a couple of cars a year, or if he buys them to resell)

The CLK270 is a diesel.  You have to wait for the glow plugs to heat up, hence the delay.

Anybody who has any common sense would have the car checked before

    paying any money.

didn't you check the car out ? You brought a cheap dunger,. As is where is, you're stuck with it. How roadworthy it ?  Strip it and sell the parts.

Did you sign a warranty?  If no, not much you can do.

You likely don't is the short answer.
