Is a Porsche just a Volkswagen? ?

Ok. So I’ve been looking at suv. I always wanted a Porsche but definitely can’t afford the “real deal” (911). I have been looking at the Porsche Cayenne and Macan. I also stopped by an Audi dealership to look at the q7 and q5 and even q3. My friend told me that both of these companies are owned by Volkswagen. So my question is, should I just save money and get a Volkswagen then... my friend seems to think so... especially since I’m not getting a “real Porsche” (I’m just looking at suvs). Thanks for the advice :)

No, it's not just a Volkswagen.  It's a Volkswagen on steroids with a higher price tag.

Yup, anything made in Europe is a VW. That's the base model or entry level European car. The rest are just up-scaled versions of VW's.

Decide just how much driving a top brand car is worth to you!

There are a lot of other performance cars out there that will come very close to the same thrill (and some times exceed it) for a lot lower price.

As the review stated (a few years back) of a high priced sports car:

"Save your money and buy two Miata's and have twice the fun …."

If you want a SUV, again there are SUV's out there which make a lot more sense to buy dollar wise.

The best car for the dollar in a multi-use vehicle is still the Subaru. Subaru is the master of AWD and they now make some larger sized vehicles. The spectrum of what they market is now much wider then when they were first imported by Malcom Bricklin back in the 70's. Well if I remember right he was the guy who thought the Subaru was the best thing sense the model T.

Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG) sells passenger cars under the Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini,

Porsche, SEAT, Škoda and the flagship Volkswagen marques.

    Motorcycles under the Ducati brand.

TRATON (commercial vehicles, trucks, and buses) under the marques MAN, Scania, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

By your logic a Lamborghini Urus would be  the same as VW T-Roc.

All three brands operate seperately. It is not like GM when Chevy, Pontiac, Buick and Oldsmobile were the same things.
