can you still buy a new porche 911?

do porche still make the 911 model, I know its quite an old version but its an iconic motor - I was wondering if porche still make a limited number of 911 every year or if you have to try and buy an decent preused one

The original type 911 has long been out of production.

If manufactured today it would be illegal to sell: too noisy, too polluting, and totally failing to meet all modern safety standards.

But Porsche have continued to sell a succession of different models called the 911 which are only inspired by the original: mostly in retaining a rear-mounted engine, although for a very long time now it has been water-cooled as Porsche had to stop making air-cooled engines to comply with modern standards.

There are a number of good independent Porsche specialists who will take any of the original 911 models and fully restore them to a condition which can be better than they were when new. Porsche didn’t build the originals all that well; rustproofing was almost non-existent and the electrics were not very reliable. Air-conditioning was a rare and expensive option, and modern owners getting a full restoration often ask for that to be added as well as power steering. Mechanical distributors typically get replaced with electronic ones triggered by magnets instead of the original distributor camshafts and contact breakers. The original carburettors may get replaced by electronic fuel injection and any non-turbo 911 is often upgraded to include a modern turbocharger with far less lag than the one fitted to the original 911 Turbo.

In addition those suppliers often upgrade the brakes, suspension and steering to reduce the old tendency of the back-end to suddenly lose grip and fishtail dangerously when cornering. Modern suspension developments mean that problem almost doesn’t exist with the current 911 models.

A few customers just want their classic 911 restored as far as possible to exactly how they left the factory: so-called “concours standard”.

You really need to learn how to search the internet - https://www.porsche.com/usa/

Or maybe scrolling down a page is an issue.
