If I get laid off from a full-time job, do I get my federal/provincial taxes back?

I'm not sure if this is true or not! But I was laid off from my full time job this year that I had for about 15 months.

You will get back everything that you overpaid.

If you over paid on taxes, you will get a return when you file your taxes in the spring.

You made income, they deducted taxes. You still owe taxes on what you made.

Since you got laid off, you may find a slight over payment since what you were paying would have been dependant on what you were earning and averaged out, you'll have less income.

Depending how long it takes you to find another job, you can get part of them back when you file your taxes.  You do not get a refund of everything you paid just because you got laid off.
