If homosexuality was such a big sin then wouldn't God codify that in the 10 Commandments?

As it stands according to God, being disrespectful to you parents is a much bigger deal and far more important than homosexuality since one is one of the Commandment and the other is not. So why don't Christian attitudes reflect that? Why are they not fighting disrespectful youth with more agency than they do homosexuality when according to their own God, it's more important.

The 10 Commandments, along with the rest of that covenant law, only applied to the Hebrews of ancient Israel. It has nothing to do with Christians or Christianity.

The 10 were a short list of the rights of God (the king) and the basic rights of other people, including one's parents. So you are, like so many others, misinterpreting that law set and how they relate to the rest of the law.

So you are "barking up the wrong theological tree" as it were.

Homosexuality was established as a sin long before that old covenant came into being, and was reiterated as a sin after the old covenant terminated, legally.

I've been participating in this forum from the start, over 10 years ago. It has been rare for a christian to bring up the topic, but people like you bring it up all the time, with an accusation against Christians, charging them with making a big deal out of it, which they don't. But you want the argument. You want this straw-man.

I'll fill you in on a little secret that is out in the open for anyone to see. Christ came and took away the sins of the world. He paid the price; the penalty. Homosexuality will no longer be a criteria used by God to judge and condemn anyone. The actions or "crimes" of sin has been taken care of. The only thing left that will condemn you or anyone else now is whether you accept and believe in Jesus the Christ and what He did for you, or not. Upon belief; upon understanding and believing the gospel, He gives the believer a part of Himself; His Spirit that "converts" the person (soul) to now be an actual son or daughter of God. Otherwise, you are a child of the devil, whose deeds and works you are destined to perform, despite any desire to the contrary you might have. The fact that you come here, making accusations, demonstrates this very thing.

Would you like to live forever in a paradise? Or do you prefer to perish?

Once a child of God, it becomes God's responsibility regarding what you do and what you are.

So here's the rub... God will change you; change your heart. You will no longer desire to live a life contrary to the will of God. But, if you prefer your lifestyle, short as it is and will be, over what God has to offer you, that again is your choice.

Those items were a beginning of 316 commandments, statutes, laws decrees that were bound upon the Hebrew Nation, "until John", Mt. 11:13, Luke 16:16. Compare Heb. 8:13

    Not necessarily.

The Ten Commandments are not "the ten biggest sins one can commit".

We can tell this by reading the Old Testament.

The legal penalty for several sins in the Old Testament was execution

but the legal penalty for several sins in the Ten Commandments was NOT execution.

    In the Old Testament

execution is the ultimate legal penalty

but is NOT the legal penalty for several of the sins found in the Ten Commandments.

    I think it obvious

    that in the Old Testament

the "biggest sins" were those for which the Old Testament mandates the ultimate legal penalty: execution.

I don't understand the question of the wrongness of homosexuality, when we have the Scriptures to back up just how detestable it is to our Creator. There is nothing, that I know of, in the Scriptures that talk about pedophiles, yet these are known to be criminals and sent to prison. We have the example of Sodom and Gomorrah when it comes to homosexuals. I invite you to read that account at Genesis 19:1-14 and 23-25. Homosexuality is listed along with kidnappers and murderers.--1Timothy 1:8-11--The Bible always tells us the truth, but most would rather believe the lie than do a little research to find the truth. It is our choice just as Deuteronomy 30:19+20a: "I take the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you today that I have put life and death before you, the blessing and the curse; and you must choose life so that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving Jehovah your God, by listening to his voice, and by sticking to him, for he is your life...." Satan is called "a liar and the father of the lie" at John 8:44 because he told the very first lie. This wicked world, under his "power" is full of lies, jealousy, hatred, ones who want to believe homosexuality is natural, and deceptions. All these things are wicked in God's eyes. God's Kingdom will destroy this wicked system in the near future. How do we know? We are told at Matthew 24:14: "Also this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and THEN the end will come." Mark 13:10 says that before the end can come; "in all the nations the good news has to be preached first." Jehovah's Witnesses are the only ones, that I know of, that are diligently preaching "the good news of God's Kingdom" from North Pole to Antarctica and beyond. Each week-end between 5 and 6 thousand are baptized. We look forward to when Jehovah shuts our mouths as he shut the door to the ark before the Flood of Noah's day. People will begin to wonder when we stop knocking on their doors. I invite you to learn more about what the Bible actually teaches from the international website, www.jw.org and Bible Teachings > Bible Questions Answered. Watch these videos: Does God have a Name? What is God's Kingdom? Why did God Create the Earth? and Why Study the Bible? If you believe what you learned, you can request your free personal Bible study online and a witness in your neighborhood will be happy to study the Bible with you. Thank you for this question.

You'd think, right? And maybe Jesus would have preached about it.

It's important to remember that when Christians need to know how to feel on any particular subject, they have complete free rein to cherry pick the parts of the bible that seem to most closely resemble the opinion they want to have. This means that they can always come up with a bible passage to support their message and it's this that allows them to think that they are right. It's a system in which logical fallacy and self-fulfilling prophecy work together to blinker them from any other thought.

Disrespect of parents can often be a precursor to the sin of homosexuality.

Christians speak out against homosexuality because God has defined it as sin and because society fervently demands that homosexuality be celebrated. If the primary focus of society was to demand disrespect of parents, then Christians would speak out against that.

The ten commandments are in the old testament. The old testament is not in effect anymore.

It the OT was still effective, we'd have a terrorist problem due to Deuteronomy 13:12-16.
