Neutering My Dog suggestions needed......?

I have 17 months Male Labrador, i thought it's his time to mate. but after some internet surfing i realized that it's my responsibility to neuter him. but i need some help, i can't even think to put him under surgery. does it hurt him ? does he cry after his surgery ?(my eyes filled with tears). Neutering him b4 not even once mated is unfair right? we should let him have his pleasure at least once right?. Please Give me your Suggestions...

Neutering your dog will not hurt him, and he will not feel anything during the procedure, as they put them under anesthesia when they're neutering him. After surgery he will probably be in some pain, but they may give you some pain medication.

Don't breed your dog! Not only is breeding a dog unhealthy if both dogs are not up to breed standards, but creating unneeded puppies as well. Leave breeding to the professionals.

He doesn't need to mate. In fact this will just frustrate any fit and healthy male dog unless he's to become a stud, which obviously your dog isn't for reasons of qualifications and suitability. Apart from adding to the overloaded excess puppy situation its actually a lot kinder. Males can live in permanent frustration once they hit puberty, our Shepherd suffered a lot once his hormones kicked in. After he was neutered his personality went back to being the happy dog he used to be. And this happened within a matter of weeks. Where once he was friendly and playful with other males he completely changed and clearly wasn't happy. The difference before and after was astounding.

No it doesn't hurt they get over it very quickly. They're usually groggy from anaesthetic until the next day. The vet will prescribe meds for the first couple of days and the dog is up and running around in no time. The only thing I have found that bothers them is when they're shaved but this can be treated easily with some Sudocreme around the shaved area.

Thank you for being a responsible dog owner.

Dogs to not need to breed. There are literally thousands of dogs killed every day because they do not have a home. Labs and lab mixes are abundant in rescues and shelters and getting killed daily. He won't feel a loss of being able to breed.

Yes, it is risky to have surgery, but it is also risky to cross the stress or go to an off leash park. There will be some pain, but your should get pain medication to give at home. Most males are back to normal within a day or 2 after surgery. Surgery is safe on dogs.

You are thinking in human terms !!! Stop that. It doesn't apply to dogs. If you allow him to mate even once you can change his personality much for the worse.

He doesn't need to mate at all, and if you even consider it then it is your responsibility to go through all the genetic screening to make sure that hips / elbows are all good, as well as know all his parents / g.parents / g.g.parents hip and elbow scores as well.

JUST DON'T.... just get him neutered or at least prevent him from getting out and mating.

Lol just see that you book your lovely Labrador in as soon as you can for the operation. He will be fine just a little sore for a few days. Look at the rewards this operation will bring about the main one being less unwanted puppies. He won't miss what he has never experienced, he will be fine with an owner like yourself I can assure you the tough Labrador will not cry especially when he sees the treats you have saved for him, they are greedy animals. Walk him a bit more once he has recovered as he might put on extra weight, I wish him well.

Yes, please neuter yor dog. It doesn't hurt him because they put him out for a while and he won't cry too much (the only reason he'll cry is because he'll be confused when he wakes up). The only other thing is you cant pick up your dog because the stiches need to heal. Most of the puppies will probably go to a shelter and die. The world is already overrun by puppies and kittens! Please do not make more!!!!

As far as dogs are concerned, you don't miss what you never had. Its actually cruel to mate your dog once, or let your bytch have just one litter. Once they've done it, it awakens all their instinctive behaviours.

Dogs that never mate and are neutered are far happier. They still play - mate for fun. My neutered male Jack Russell was in a 'mated pair' with a Retriever bytch. She used to stay with us every season. He had never mated but would cheerfully play along with her every season.

Unneutered dogs will crave every bytch in season in your neighbourhood. Their owners come on here asking for help as their dogs stop eating, whine, pant and try to escape. They literally can't think of anything else.

As for the surgery, the vet gives them a pre med which makes them woozy and takes away all their dear. I've had a pre med myself and I can tell you its an extremely pleasant experience. It also interferes with your short term memory and you have no real memories of the operation, or any strong feelings connected to it.

It also completely removes the risk of testicular cancer, and drastically cuts the risk of prostrate cancer. Its well worth it for both yours and your dogs long term peace of mind.

No. The top reason to neuter your pet died in shelters last year. (Quote.) Don't let him mate. It doesn't hurt the animal what so ever. The only symptom is drowsiness. Because of the gas that puts them to sleep. (You know what I mean.)

It changes your dog health it's beneficial. Calms you're dog. Gain weight. Mating is in my opinion not bad as long as you're response able and find the right ***** and your dog is checked and if all good he's a good stud
