Vaisheshika philosophy: there are nine substances which form the basis of all creation; earth; water; fire; air; space; time; direction in space soul and mind.

Soul (Atman) According to Vaisheshika Sutras, the existence of the eighth ultimate substance, soul, is indicated by the ascending life-breath (prana), the descending life-breath (apana); 1. (nimeshza and unmesha opening and closing of the eyelids; seeing; 2. Life (jivana); 3. Mental activity (manogati); 4. inner changes in the field of senses (indriyantara-vikara); 5. Pleasure (sukha); 6. pain (duhkha); 7. desire (iccha); and 8. effort (prayatma).

My answer in an earlier question:

I would like to add any scholar of the Bhagavad-Gita would realize the seeing of all of the above is given in (Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 2 verses 45). Krishna spoke:

“The Vedas’ concern is with the three gunas. Be without the three Gunas, O Arjuna feed from duality, ever firm in purity, independent of possessions, possessed of the Self.” The Bhagavad Gita reached it peek in this verse in the path to Enlightenment. Nothing more need to be said.

The three properties of Prakrti or primordial matter are the gunas. The properties or the three aspects are Sattva, (harmony), consciousness is its important function, Rajas, (energy), and whatever produces motion, and Tamas, (inertia), resistance. The gunas constantly act and react upon each other. One being dominant, for the time being over the other. As long as the world exists, the three gunas are in a state of disturbed equilibrium. How to bring the gunas in equal balance?

“independent of possessions, possessed of the Self.” This is the technique of instantaneous realization. This is how to step outside the influence of karma’s return of all actions. No amount of good deeds or discipline will satisfy karma throughout eternity accumulations. In Shakespeare’s play the question, “To be or not to be that is the question.” is another clue. Experiencing in the now without attachment to the gunas of nature and free from false ego idea identity is truly bliss without repercussions.

The question arises, if the soul in Vaisheshika philosophy is one of the nine substances, is it not made up of the three gunas?

    Take a look see.

Eccentrics particularly are "ex-centric" this means that that they do not fit within the middle. That middle is the traditional. They don't seem to be usual people. They is also creative, ingenious, or effortlessly very free. So, they dress otherwise, they've tastes and interests that persons customarily would not have. The rest of the crowd calls them eccentrics and suggest that they are loopy. However craziness is all one-of-a-kind. Artists are usually eccentric.

Soul or Atman is a minute point light, which can not seen by the naked eye.It exists between the two brows of a person. The soul can not be destroyed by fire, water, air or weapons. The soul is immortal unlike the human body.

The soul is eternal, powerful, peaceful, loving, joyful, blissful, simple but wise enough.
