Consciousness is born of the soul as Super consciousness is born of the Super soul.

Consciousness is aware of only the body it occupies, while Super consciousness is aware of all the consciousness in all the bodies of every living and non-living beings.

We may feel that consciousness is born of the body when we feel pain in the region of the heart when we hurt someone unintentionally or are hurt by others intentionally. But it is not the Super soul which is seated in the heart of the soul that inhabits the body, is the source of consciousness.

A brain is the source of consciousness. It's not magic. With the right equipment a person's level of consciousness can be measured just like everything else.

    I am an agno-myst

    and i believe,

this universe is ultimately the manifestation of the realm of the absolute consciousness

that is formless, nameless or beyond words and infinite in nature

and for the same reason is the ultimate existential truth.

So i will say consciousness has no source but itself.

Consciousness is not born from the body,

it rather descends from higher realms of universal existence

to acquire the physical body in the physical realm

    to do work or karma

for it's own evolution towards the ultimate freedom.

Consciousness is ONLY from the Soul. Never from body.

To think consciousness is from body is materialistic and atheistic thinking.

    Define 'consciousness.'

Sounds like a feelings kind of word, llike a place-holder for "soul." Something ineffable, that people speak of while at the same time not having the foggiest idea what they are speaking of.

Consciousness is all continuum and pervades through one and all. When a child is born, it recognizes one as a continuum and is a part of bliss.

Then body comes into play and ignorance takes over and this keeps happening.........just smoke screen becomes more and more dense. Meditation has a power to see through and pierce this smoke-screen to reach the reality.

    Chaitany,

The source of consciousness is primordial matter and is made up of the guna Sattva, (harmony), consciousness is its important function of nature along with Rajas guna, (energy), and whatever produces motion. Tamas guna, (inertia), is resistance. They work together to from our three-dimensional picture of reality. One guna is being dominant, for a time being, over the others. Pure consciousness means empty of thought. Consciousness itself is the ultimate validator of all experience only in the physical.

The metaphysics of consciousness is seen in ontology, the science of Being, which also deals with the nature of perception. It is observed when the false ego idea filters of thought gets between perception and consciousness, consciousness becomes contaminated. Consciousness basically has two functions validation and being a container of eternal awareness temporally while consciousness exists in the relative field of existence. Without consciousness and awareness the three gunas vanish. Upon death body, mind and consciousness dies also. Awareness transcends the physical relative ever changing field and returns to the ocean of Awareness in the absolute none changing field of existence. In advanced mediations body, mind and consciousness are left behind and awareness transcends and upon returns to consciousness with the absolute qualities of the absolute with love, joy and contentment that are played out in life.

Chaitany, I am sure you understand Krishna’s lesion in the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 2 verse 45. Krishna spoke: The Vedas concern is with the three gunas. Be without the three Gunas, O Arjuna freed from duality, ever firm in purity, independent of possessions, possessed of the Self.

Using EEG (brain-wave sensing) and MRI measurements, researchers found evidence for the “global workspace theory” that pre-conscious perceptions are then broadcast into the brain’s neural network. Researchers correlated activity there with known levels of brain functioning observed in both healthy volunteers and those with brain damage. Among other applications, this research could eventually be used to predict who will recover from a coma.
