Comment on my following quote which came to my mind due to spread of terrorism?

Love your enemy if you want to kill him. Kill him if you want him to be living forever.

Update:

P'quaint!

"Love takes time to become effective and hatred is instant"

In fact, this is exactly what I am trying to say. My advise of "love" is not so easy to follow and I know that it is not palatable to the majority. It is a slow medicine, but even more important part of the above statement is that "hatred" is instant and that exactly is what I see happening.

I had gone to Kashmir while in school and met the then Chief Minister, Mr. Gulam Mohammad Baxi taking stroll on the bridge of Jelum unarmed. Today, not even a civilian feels safe. Things have worsened. US and Nato operations in Afghanistan is not eradicating terrorists, but creating more to live for generations. Unmindful killings of innocents by an American soldier will have long term repurcussions. It was this incident that made me introspect if we, the so-called sane people, are indeed behaving like that! I am not in favor of terrorists and their action generates as much anguish in my mind as

Update 2:

I have given TU to all the answerers though they are critical of my thinking because of their frankness in boldly telling what they feel.

Update 3:

My statement cannot be understood unless explained with elaboration. However, I am not going to do that here. What I am observing is that worldwide, different terrorist groups are getting support from the community they belong to. What should have happened is that actions of the world civilized societies should have been so carefully cariied out that terrorists get isolated and condemned by the society they belong to. Instead, innocent members of their society are getting killed which is resulting in sympathy for the terrorists by their own community members. Thus, fight against terrorism is getting into a wrong direction and is becoming a fight between communities. For terrorists hailing from any country, action by the world community should be so directed that they get condemned by their own countrymen. Unless this happens, the fight against terrorists will become a fight between nations. To think that all Iraquis, all Afghans, all Iranians, all Pakistanis are terrorists and mindless

Update 4:

misdirected action against innocent civilians will result in a long term enmity with these nations and fight against terrorism will end up in a fight between nations.

Update 5:

In short, we are looking for quick remedy for terrorism which does not exist.

Very esoteric, l like it and undoubtedly true. There have been too many martyrs made out of terrorists, such as Bin Laden. No doubt he has reserved his place in history. The war on terror should be fought in the classroom, with education not bullets. Kill the ideology, not the person.

Unfortunately this won't work with the Terrorists!

They kill before giving you a chance to Love them.

If Mumbai attack of 26/11 is any indication, you need to rework on your quote/thoughts. We have kept Ajmal Kasab alive, is he repentent or showing signs of remorse? Okay, fine, he is only a pawn, what of his Mentors? Is there any signs of their hearts changing?

And then there's Afzal Guru! It's only in India that they are still breathing. Had such a thing happened in US, they would be dead and cold already!!!

Love takes time to become effective and hatred is instant.

'Ahinsa' works with sane people...terrorists are anything but that. Terrorists are highly motivated people...bringing them to table for 'love' or discussion is next to impossible...

Not for nothing is it said in Hindi, "Laaton ke bhoot baaton se nahin maante!"

Edit: @ Odumpally: Is there any need to link terrorism with religion? I think not! What Maoists are doing in the North-East is also terrorism. The govt. is soft on them so far...yet there are no signs of them relenting!

Mind is the reason for converting a human into a terrorist. Religious narrow mind has to be changed. A terrorist or a criminal is to be shifted from the Religious prison to a normal prison and should be given training to love others. (Sir, you have misunderstanding in me but I can love you)
