Why not yahoo answer delete all the questions after 10 days?
It has been observed that more than 70% asker do not select the best answer within given time. In voting these questions are selected by vote. But the voting is not the proper way to select the best answer. Because voters may not get any attraction to select the best answer by voting, as he or she may not see the necessity of the question. So, why not yahoo answer take a decision to delete all pending questions after 10 days, if not selected by the asker or by the voters.
Do you agree ?.

I agree, as they just take up space, but Y!A wants to be 'fair' in all of this

I agree that there is a problem with the voting system. But deleting the question would be too harsh a remedy. For Yahoo answers to be successful, they need to have a very huge database and cannot afford to delete questions just cause people don't feel like voting for the best answers. A lot of questions and answers would be lost if this is done.
There are a lot of good questions and great answers out there which someone may find useful in the future and they do not have a best answers and the voting is either tied or no one has bothered to vote.
We cant afford to lose all these questions and answers.
Alternately, if no one votes for an answer for 10 days then no best answer option can be automatically selected. This arrangement too has its flaws and honestly, the more i think of it, i feel that the existing arrangement, flawed that it is not all that bad. At any rate the question and answer database is atleast still intact.

What I don't understand is why there are still lots of question in voting from 2 or 3 years ago.
Why don't the people who answered go back to their answer after 10 days and vote for their answer? Of course this won't work when there are multiple answers and everybody gets that idea. But 10 days is a long time and if you get a vote in, a half an hour before the other guy, the vote will be resolved.
The thing is, in reality, most people forget their answers so don't care anyway, myself included.

The questions are not deleted by Yahoo as the questions are there for future reference for other users. There is a group of users on this site that vote on undecided questions, it is just other users, like myself, and not Yahoo staff that are in the group. We try to clear backlogs of questions that are indeed as long as 3 years old, if you are interested in voting and helping to clear the undecided questions then the link to the Tiebreakers Group is in my profile.
Personally I disagree with deleting questions after 10 days but I would agree to deleting them after 3 years if there is best answer chosen.

If the asker cannot be bothered voting best answer it seems only fair that users do it. It works fine like that , why change it.

It will not be a great idea as lot of contents of the users will get eliminated. I would rather suggest there should be some expert panels in the y/a to choose the BA.
