Don't you think,captain Dhoni...?

Should stop blaming his players in public and concentrate on bringing the best out of them.

He has all the time, before and after the match to advise them.

I am afraid this will produce only negative results.

Update:

In fact, the reason for the defeat, is the Aussies played better.Their bowlers too were flayed all over in the end overs. But still they won.

Update 2:

@Ronald,

I respect your right to views though I may not agree with all.

There are many answers whereI have given similar views, but only one Q with something similar.

http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ag...

Dhoni's strength has been his cool temperament. But these days he appears to be losing his cool.I have also always maintained that as a player he is very responsible and expects the same from others. But it is not enough for a captain. His handling of the players is faulty.True, all the players are professionals and don't need to be told. But as captain he has to improve the team spirit, with good rapport. It is always good to praise in public and condemn in appropriate place.

In this case, bowlers giving away runs depends on the fielding too. Moreover even Aussie bowlers gave away many runs. The reason for defeat is Aussie batsmen played better.

Update 3:

All along India has been achieving victories, more due to individual performances(this includes Dhoni's batting too)and his cool temperament. Nowadays he looks more agitated ever since he paraded the players in T20 WC in SA to prove that all is well with the team which was unnecessary.

My aim is only to share whatever I observe, in team India's interest.I don't expect it to be accepted by everyone. It is enough if it is understood in proper context.Thank you.

    No , i don't think so.

everyone have their own style of leadership Dhoni is different , he isn't someone who will always look to be politically correct.

He has said many times in interviews that he is openly critical about the players , and he never wants them to take things easily and yes he has done that in the past as well .

Do you Remember how he criticized Rohit sharma in Australia for not running properly between the wickets when he was acting as his runner. and how he criticized Piyush chawla , or munaf patel (on the field).

    http://www.expressindia.com/latest-news/I-am-openl...

    to quote dhoni

"More importantly I have a good rapport with my team, they respond well to me and that is why they understand me. After the end of every match I speak to them,"

and,After that every player performed well in that CB series.

Did you bring this up then?

if you did then please tell me when?

    --------------------------

you are saying he should concentrate on bringing the best out of them ,

What do you think he is doing now?

Is he not concentrated enough on doing this?

Everyone respect him in the team , you don't get that if your players don't like you for being openly critical.

    players listen to him.

    ---------------------

"I am afraid this will produce only negative results."

Why it didn't produce only negative results in the past?

Why we didn't question him when he was doing this earlier? , was it because he was not losing then?

How much "negative" results it produced earlier ?

Doesn't he praise them when they do well?

Has any captain achieved so much (as dhoni) in such a short time by not criticizing their players in public ?

criticizing the players in public by captain doesn't make them play badly , being international players they should be able to handle this.

And he isn't doing that everyday or after every match, is he?

this has been going on from past 2 or 3 series continuously that bowlers are going for way too many runs at the death overs.

And he also criticized them when they were winning.

    http://www.mynews.in/News/Dhoni_concerned_over_fie...

so its not only after losing , he is "blaming" them.He was equally aware of this in good times as well.

He knows when to criticize them in public ,and when to advise them in private.

It's not his Job to act and lead as per yours or everyone's expectations ,it doesn't matter what we think. He will do his job the way he wants , he knows better.

    It's funny

that some People don't notice these things when their team is winning, and when you lose a game or two ,then they start pointing fingers..

edit- as the link says , he is also indicating fielders , that's why Robin singh was sacked , as for bowlers they are hit for sixes and in the gaps during death overs , he can't set fielding in the air to protect sixes.

edit- I perfectly understood what you were trying to say and that's why I didn't accept it, and i guess I'm not the only one here who disagrees with some of your views.

However, i agree that situation could have been handled better in T20 WC in 'England'.But, Dhoni was not the only one responsible for giving explanation , he must have consulted the team and Board before messing with media.

It's unfortunate that being a captain one is blamed for everything even when others behind the scenes are equally responsible.some Media persons write spicy headlines and many people fall for it , specially those fair weather fans or who have some personal grudge against them.(not indicating you)

Dhoni must stop blaming his bowlers & try to look at his own mistakes.Wasn't of Bhajji & Praveen-india would have had to surrender a convincing defeat-he should thank them for the brave fight they put up!

Maybe, but captains are pestered by the media for comment & when they do make a small comment the media blow it up into a major story. So I take anything I read or hear in the media with a grain of salt.

  • 1 decade ago

Yes. You are right. Of late, he started commenting too much about his own team. That should be stopped. Instead, he can ask for advice from seniors/experts what to do on improving performance.

poor Dhoni can not be productive for team. I am sure the team was winning because of yovraj, sehwag, Jahir, Ishant etc.. Dhoni's contribution in making team india no 02 in ICC ranking is 0

  • Its Ok to some extent to blame the team..But not always and also he tells that he is Satisfied with performs of the team..
