Flea bomb and snakes?

Our apartment landlord is coming into our apartment to bomb for fleas...the apartment downstairs was infested with fleas and so the whole building is being bombed for them. I am not at all thrilled with this for several reasons...one of which is we have animals and I don’t want them exposed to the poisons. Knowing me and my paranoia of poisons I will probably end up taking the snakes…tanks and all to a hotel for a few days. How long after the “bombing” should I keep them away.

Without knowing what they are using, it's hard to say, but wait as long as you can to be safe! Many years ago I lived in an apartment that had a problem with cat fleas (not in my apt. either) and when I was in class, they "bombed" the whole complex and killed my hamster! Snakes are very susceptible to toxics, and have been known to die from the outgassing of perfectly dry cabinets/enclosures that were recently refinished. Don't take a chance! Do you have a friend/relative who could safely keep them for a week or two?? I am totally with you on this...it's not paranoia, it's self-preservation! Pesticides like they sell in the store for home use are essentially "nerve gas", so says my retired chemist/physicist/herpetologist friend, and the stuff that exterminators use is many times stronger! Here's a thought: are you ALLOWED to have your pets there? If so, ask the landlord for the name of the company who will be treating the building, and tell them you have a pet bird...???? They are usually the most at risk, see what they say...or better yet, see what they guarantee as to safety!!! Good luck!

Well most require one or two hours before opening up windows and then two or more hours before you can come and start cleaning up-vacuuming, wiping down cabnets and counter tops, washing dishes and linens.

Some time last year ago I had to bomb a rental house i was in, I waited 8 hrs before returning my snakes and their cages.
