Christians cannot judge?

Everyone thinks that Christians are not supposed to judge others because of Matthew 7:1. And Matthew 7:15-20 tell us we had better be judging!

Doesn't verse 2 encourage us to judge, just not with a double standard?

(Sounds to me like God's standard for judgment will be honored.)

I am a Christian and I don't judge people because we are told "Judge not lest ye be judged." Also I cannot look into someone else's heart and soul and see what type of person they are.

Most people that think that have never read the rest of the bible or the rest of the verse of Matthews.

Matthews is about not being a hyprocite. Don't judge unless you too will be judge makes perfect sense. Yes if I jugde people- there's a great possiblity and chance that they will judge me.

God said to judge "righteous judgment." But humans aren't really capable of that. Our own prejudices will always color our judgment.

But there is a different type of judgment, which is actually discernment. Discernment is recognizing within ourselves that something is right or wrong, but then acting on it only in regard to ourselves. We do not have the right to judge others who discern differently.

    Judgment includes condemnation.

    Discernment does not.

You are right. We don't judge to condemn or with double standards. But by their fruits, we will know them. We judge as in assess and make a call based on observation, but it is not our place to condemn.

Nice seeing you again, Bobby. :)

I am a Christian and no i don't think we should judge. It is for God to decide whether that person is "good or Bad"

i do not know what is in their heart.

    you're right,

when I call sin a sin,I get accused of judging the person.

    I am judging the sin.

if it's a sin I can say so.

a lot of people use this verse to point their finger at a christian when they don't even read it and have no idea what it is saying.

they just love to quote it.

  • Christians judge all of the time. They feel justified in judging no matter what reason they use. And it makes no difference to me which reason they pick.

Christians change the rules to suit them whenever they come up against a subject that doesn't quite work for them as it stands. All this does is show how fragile a foundation their beliefs are based on.

I dont think that. And I am no Christian.

Besides, most christians do nothing but judge, with next to NO data whatsoever.

    We don't judge,

    IT IS JUST,

that they show what fruit they have. We do not to show their fruit, when they voluntarily do if.
