Do you think there will be polarization of players..?

Between tests on one side and T20 on the other?

Flintoff retired from tests to continue in T20/ODis

Md Younus retired from T20 to continue in tests and ODis.

Update:

Will this give way to different set of players for each version?

Update 2:

Sorry i wrongly spelt the name, please read as Bill.P

Update 3:

@B.Pill,yes the indications are already there.

Will it be a complete divide soon and if so,how soon?

Update 4:

It is really baffling, how the correction appeared even before the mistake itself.

Its unfortunate but some players like Styris & Freddy have set a dangerous precedent by moving away from tests. We might see a mass exodus of good players from the test arena in the near future.

20-20 pays so much better for so little effort that I wonder if anybody will want to solely remain a test player. So, we might have certain exclusive players for 20-20 in future but def. not tests and that means the standard of test cricket will drop. Sigh.

It seems so. There is another player who needs mention here. Chris Gayle. He too prefers T20 to Tests. The only problem is WI has other problems. So he is holding on.

Tests require 5 days on the field. No limit to bowling. All so comparatively strenuous.

Most retired players have proved themselves and then taken to T20. Also, they had been chosen because they had proved they can play.

But there is another trend. The youngsters are playing well only in T20.

So a divide will come in by 2 to 3 years.

It's disappointing to know that super talented cricketers C.Vaas , A.Flintoff , Scott Styris have retired just for test matches,& are continuing in other formats.

This can be very dangerous for the game,as many youngsters have these cricketers as their role models,& then, these young guys follow their icons by leaving tests.

But also, players like Younus Khan are doing a great thing by continuing in tests.

This difference in opinion of players can indeed divide players into sets.

For me,a player should play all the 3 formats of the game,if he truly plays the game for his/her passion.

Age is an important factor in playing different types of cricket.Age up 25 for 20/20's,25 to 30 years for one days and 25 to 40 years if eligible for tests. How about this?

It is already happening with many countries having their test squads and their ODI/T20 squads.

this is the effect of more cricket. players have to be very fit for present time cricket but if they think that they r not fit enough to play all forms of game they should take retirement.
