Will a bad gas cap cause my check engine light to come on?

My check engine light comes on and stays on for about 2 days, then shuts off for about a day. Could this be a bad gas cap, i had to replace it awhile ago and it's one where it doesn't click on but just turns onto it.

A bad seal on the cap can cause an Evap Recirculation error to come up. The best ones are the non-locking ones, as any Smog shop will also tell you cause they keep them on hand and sell them too you if yours fails the vacuum test.

Many newer cars use a pressurized fuel system (meaning the tank) to get better fuel economy and to recover unspent fuel from the rails. Not only can it cause a "check engine" light but it can also cause some of them to not even crank. I have seen this on a few Mazda and VW's. I hope this helps.
