How did the Parliament of England deal with the Diggers? (British History Question)?
After Charles I was executed, england had a kingless rule for sometime.There were some main groups interfering with parliament, the fifth monarchists, the levellers and the diggers..
the diggers generally beleived in sharing of land, etc.
Does anyone know how the parliament of england dealt with the diggers?

If you read the Putney Debates, it is clear that the vast majority of NMA officers were fearful of class conflict. There is a constant emphasis in voters having an 'interest in the land', ie) owning property. The Diggers threatened this by their seizure of untilled land. The Parliamentarians were very harsh on those to their left.
