How would the world be different if Britain had won the war of 1812?

I think by 1812 the UK had accepted US independence. However, they would have taken parts of the US, possibly some unimportant border regions or states like North Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota or maybe even Maine. However, the US would have anyway become a world power, because the most important states for the rise of the US were other states like Massachusetts, New York, California, Illinois, Texas, Philadelphia, Virginia, Michigan, New Jersey, maybe Maryland and some other states with big populations and bigger economies who mainly carried or drove the success of the nation.

The Americans would stop saying "We're the Greatest". A little humility would go a long for them in international relations.
If Britain had won, perhaps it would have made sure the "Indians" kept the western territories promised to them by treaty. Perhaps not. The native peoples were the ones who lost.
Other than that no one got anything beyond what they had at the start.

There would be subtle changes other than the British Empire would become a communist oligarchy country without any monarchs to rule the world.

Actually the British walked away with a victory having made it to the capital and burned it. American militia had hardly proven to be more than a roadblock to the British army on its way to DC. That did a lot for reinforcing American’s realization that we needed a large enough professional federal army to defend itself after being let down by poorly performing militias. This argument was still going on whether we needed a permanent federal army or if we could rely entirely on militias for our defense, something many people had wanted. The Brits never had the intention of reoccupying the states so they left after their punitive expedition was completed. They achieved their goals including preserving Canada as a separate (from the US) Provence. The real show was in Europe where the continent and Britain were preoccupied with Napoleon.
