Has McCain's attacks been taken too far?

It seems that at every McCain campaign stop he has to say something trashy about Obama, accusing him of playing the race card. When McCain accused Obama of being the equivalent of Britney Spears or Paris Hilton, I thought it was taken MUCH too far.

What are your thoughts about this? Can this be justified? Do you think McCain does this for air time?

Update:

I've worked on local campaigns before, my brother has run for local office, and I've enjoyed every opportunity I've had. Thanks for the reccommendation though.

Update 2:

I haven't forgotten, Jack. Since my brother is a politician and he knows about all these people running for positions and how fake they are, I understand where the McCain is coming from, just trying to show the public who they've been supporting. Thats why the question was titled "too far"

Obama did play the race card. "I don't look like the other presidents on the dollar" what could this possibly mean besides he is black. That he doesn't wear a wig, that he is taller than most of them, or that... i don't know I'm sure you can justify it.

As for comparing him to a celebrity, it is legit. Look at his overseas trip, the media covered it like a war was going on (o wait there is a war going on, that was getting less coverage). Most people don't even know why they support him, the media LOVES him, and his speeches are often just about hope and change and he rarely says what he is going to change.

And those attack ads do work, Obama has been dropping a bit in the battle ground states.

Okay, they're not even "attacks".I think that's too strong of a word

    He's a politician.Obama is a politician. This is a political campaign

Why wouldn't you try to put your opponent in the worst light possible?

How is it taking it too far when Obama is compared to Paris and Britney?

I think the reason he did that is to show that Obama is a huge celebrity like Britney and Paris.I don't think he meant that Obama is at their intelligence level.Paris and Britney are arguably the two most famous people on the planet.Obama in a way has become a rock star

    I found it hilarious

Also,I'm sorry to say that Obama kinda sorta played the race card but not to the extent that Republicans are saying he has

@ littleshell, you've got to be kidding me if you think that Paris' response was intelligent and humorous.I saw that, and I found it to be incredibly stupid.I don't know why people think that's funny. I'd vote for McCain before I would ever vote for that bimbo

Obama HAS made his offensive campaign against McCain "racial" and if anybody is getting perturbed and disillusioned with Obama OR his supporters, it's this race card being played. It's insulting to say there are millions who WON'T vote for Obama because of his policies and positions. Yes, there ARE white racists, just as there are black racists. And Obama was the FIRST to introduce his color and now that he's sliding ungracefully in the Polls, he pulls that "boo hoo hoo" poor black me, whitey doesn't like me and the liberals go nuts.....well, MORE nuts than usual.

Besides, what do you expect..........the race is heating up and if Obama can't handle a little unsavory "heat", let him drop out. Hillarys ALWAYS ready !

Do not forget that one person's "attack" ad is another person informing the public. How can you be accused of attacking a person when you are pointing out his position on things he would rather that you not know?

However, the Paris Hilton thing was going a little too far. But the race issue that Obama tried to bait the McCain camp with was going way, WAY too far.

    No, not at all.

Obama plays the race card, gives speeches in foreign country as if he was running for President of the world, hurls insults at McCain.

Obama has some weaknesses like his HUGE ego, a racist past, a racist wife, a racist pastor, terrorist friends, felony convicted friends, special interest contributors to his campaign, a socialist agenda, reversal of several commitments on energy, campaign contributions, his weakness without a prepared speech, among others.

    Obomo is an empty suit....

You have to understand that McCain's arsenal is very limited.

He has sold out his status as a free thinker and maverick in order to win the Republican nomination. This means he is forced to advocate exactly the policies that Bush and the Republican congress spent 6 years implementing. Now who could sell that - the solution to the mess we created is to do the same things that created the mess?

So he is doing what he can to make this election about the faults (whether real or percieved) of Obama rather than about him or the past 8 years.

Don't concern yourself too much - by all accounts it is failing miserably.

in accordance to the polls, dissimilar human beings have been grew to become off by using the nasty smear procedures on Palin's section. be conscious she hasn't stricken to show the Ayers connection. McCain himself desperate to call Obama an honest individual because of the fact he knows of smear procedures will injury the camp much greater. stable for him. enable's desire he continues to be valuable.

When Barrak Obama said McCain was the same as Bush that opened the door so live with it.

As long as he is telling the truth, no problem. He seems to be doing that so far. Face it, Obama is a big zero and would not even be in this race if it were not for his skin color.
