Wife Surname is different in my & her passport.?

Yes it could be a problem to explain this to the consulate. Better get it changed from the passport office.

And like every other married person, you have a legal document that shows the linkage between the two names. So not a problem, a) thevisa will be in the old passport (that you still have) with the original name b) the likeness is still the same... c) in the case of query, you present the marriage certifcate. what you cannot do is change passports mid flight without warning them and ideally not book the flight in the wrong name, though again it is exactly the same situation as a honeymooning couple booking in their married names yet until they marry, cannot actually change the name on the passport (till later). You can (for a fee) have the visa moved (and therefore renamed) to the new passport if you wish, however it is not neccesary,however in this case, it may carry benefits in not carrying the marriage certificate. Your choice.

the correct last name must be on her passport , both of your passports must match exactly , yes it will cause you problems in receiving a visa trough if both passports are not alike.

It is due to foolishness by husband. Husband's passport is after marriage. Why husband mentioned wrong / old name of wife in his application?

This can be corrected. This is a case of change of name of wife. She will have to make affidavit and place advt. min 2 newspapers.

Rather than encountering last minute problems / anxieties you are best advised to act immediately both of you to file the necessary affidavits and also seek gazette notifications. However it is best to post a question seeking clarification from the the US Consulate (??) on their official web site and act according to their advice . No need to hesitate. As long as your efforts are there on paper and actions are transparent nothing to fear. They will be found to your advantage.
