  • Why do people always cite the sound of the action on a pump shotgun as reasons for owning?

Are they naive enough to think they are in the movies and the home invader is there to rob the jewels? From what I've read about home invasions, it's usually a guy on meth looking for something to sell to buy more meth. Someone on drugs is incapable of logic and unafraid of the sound (and sight) of a gun. So, if they are relying on the sound of the gun to scare away the bad guys, they are going to get killed. If they aren't willing to use it on another person the gun should just stay in the safe. And shame on them for missing an opportunity to shoot a bad guy.
