What would have happened if the Titanic struck the iceberg head on directly?
Instead of what actually happened- they turned and the iceberg struck the sides and punched holes in the side.
The front of the ship is sharp and pointy, so wouldn't it just "cut through" and split the iceberg? Or would the front of the ship be wrecked and sink the ship even faster?

The "story" is that a iceberg tore a hole in the steel hull but the truth is it was struck by a torpedo.
Witnesses all said there was a explosion that shook the entire ship.
NONE described any scraping noise like what would be made by a iceberg.

I happened to have been on a ship that struck another ship with the bow. At the time of impact the ship I was on had an approximate speed of four knots. It collision resulted in frames being bent 25 frames back.
The Titanic was going 24.5 knots. The point of impact still would have been below the water line.
Given the nature of the hull, seams would have split aft to at least the forward engine room on both sides of the ship.
The Titanic would still have taken on water, but it might have at least run aground on the ice burg. So maybe there would have been fewer lost lives. It all depends on how difficult rescuing survivor's would have been.
It even an ice breaker could split the ice burg the Titanic hit and they are designed to deal with frozen water.

Welds used on the hull were defective. The bow was made of welded steel plates. I think the same thing would happen.

The REAL reAson that the TITANIC sunk was dues to the WRONG type of STEEL in the hull! INthe cold atlantic, it hit about THRTY FEET of the hull on the SIDE<but it CRACKED the side like GALSS or BUTTER! HAd they used an ALLOY<this MAY have benn PREVENTED! WE WILL NEVER EVER KNOW! There was a TWIN SHIPO called teh OLYMPIC that sunk in the MEDITTERANEAN as well!

The Titanic was 52,310 tons.
The iceberg was 1,500,000,000 tons.
The iceberg would have won. It was 100 feet tall (above the water), 100 feet wide (at the surface), and 400 feet long.... And only 10% of an iceberg is visible above the water...
No way it could have cut through that.

sounds like a question for mythbusters...im guessing they would have been stuck or sinking either way

It wouldn't have cut through it. Icebergs are massive. It would either have crushed the front end and become stuck, or bounced back and stalled, depending on the speed it was going.
The ship would probably not have sunk faster, or probably at all. The reason the Titanic sank was because more watertight compartments were breached than she could withstand. Hitting only the front would have damaged fewer compartments.
