    While "James Cameron won his spurs as one of the best directors of all time by making the greatest blockbuster 'Titanic' in 1997." is grammatically correct, it could also be as: "By making the greatest blockbuster 'Titanic' in 1997, James Cameron won his spurs as one of the best directors of all time."

    Seems correct to me.   There will be those that will challenge the veracity of the claims in your statement.... such is the difficulty with the truly subjective.
