Has it ever been explained scientifically HOW Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet works ... ?

The Infinity Stones are both magic and science in a way.  They're physical manifestations of the various foundations of reality and life. Unparalleled powerful objects and completely unique.  Being able to use even one allows you to defy universal physics and laws in all sorts of ways.

Normally using even a single stone is very dangerous.  A normal person will just die touching one barehanded.  You'd either need to fashion a container/tool to put it in or have a superhuman body strong enough to withstand touching it. The Infinity Gauntlet was crafted for Thanos to be such a tool.  His body is tough enough to use them all and the glove lets him concentrate and activate their powers directly and easily.  

There's no exact explanation of how and why the glove does what it does, it's just a story element.  The gauntlet was made by the dwarves of Nidavellir.  Similar to the Asgardians magic and science is basically the same thing and used together for these people.
