What is it that America doesn't get about the Second amendment being a horrendous idea and have the intelligence to abolish it?

Is it unfamiliar with the concept of 'common sense'

People being allowed to own guns is the problem.(period)

Mass shootings are happening on a regular basis and nobody has come to the conclusion that 'enough is enough' No civilized country feels the need to be armed against their next door neighbours.

Judy and Charlie: Your constitution isn't fit for toilet paper not bedtime reading.

Guns should be restricted to the police and the military.

Lili: Surely mass shooting on a very regular basis  WOULD deem it  necessary to abolish it rather than amend it.

    A lot of people do grasp that. They haven't been enough for repeal.

    If the framers of the Constitution could observe our situation now, they'd ask us why we hadn't done away with the SA eons ago.  They didn't intend for the Constitution to be regarded as graven in stone even to the nation's detriment. They gave us the means to amend it.

    The sole reason was to ensure that we COULD change the Constitution when necessary.

    The founders put the Second Amendment in there to ensure their posterity would not suffer the same fate as those who did not have the ability to hold the government in check.

    From the Declaration:

     "That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive to these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. "

    You cannot institute new government if you are not more powerful than the old government.

    If your government is full of corrupt bastards then you really need the guns for them to hold the people in awe.

    There is a reason the Barons were able to "Take King John to Runnymede", in 2115, they were more powerful and were able to force him to agree to the terms.

    In every country that has take the guns from the people there has been  genocide within a generation.

    The question is not why do you want the guns, the question is which group in America will be eliminated first.

    We will not see one genocide here, we will see several as there are 9 distinct groups in America.

    Never have this many groups lived in the same land before ins such relative peace.  And it is because we are armed to the teeth.

    The most violence occurs where the guns are the fewest and most restricted.

    The problem is not people that own guns legally.  The problem is illegal guns, and abolishing the 2nd Amendment would not stop illegal guns from entering the US or being used in crimes.

    A large majority of people in the US support some gun control- a ban on automatic weapons and more background checks. Stop lumping us all together as an "it".

    Read THE WHOLE SECOND AMENDMENT!

    NOWHERE in that amendment does it mention guns or hand grenades or surface to air missiles, does it?  AK-47, NO!  Assault weapons, NO!

    However it does allow for us to build and support our military and local police but not "private militias" (whatever the hell that is).

    I don't have a problem with people who hunt and who consume what they kill.  Still, in America, that's what puts food on a lot of tables still.

    But still, the American Psychiatric and the American Medical Association agree that one in four Americans will have a treatable mental or emotional illness in their lifetime and this is why NOT EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO A GUN!

    And no idiot should have a loaded gun in their house where children are present.
