Do car dealers typically let you test drive a car, is there any conditions in which they don't let u test drive?

YOU HAVE to have a REAL DRIVER's LICENSE of course but OST dealers WIL allow a bRIE+F road encounter! WHEn I see a ca i m aINTERESTED IN < iget a RENTAL CAR ike it and drive it a WEEK or so BEFORE BUYING IT! SO MANY CAR out there now! I tend to NOTliek CFT trannies! I tend NTO to like CADDY proedv cuts that are DOE NE by 100,000 miels whent eh TIMIG CHAIN BREAKS! They SEEM to do that on PURPOSE! VOLVO and BENZ have MILLION MILE CLUBS! WE do NTO have  SINGLE CLUB like that for AN domestic car! LINCOLN is WAY ahead of A CADY in every arena and CADDY engines for DECADES have ALL been FAILURES! They jus DO NOT LAST! I LEARNED that EUROPEAN CARS last the LONGEST ! Most have OIL SPRAY JETS and SOME get UNREAL POWER and MILEAGE! the JAPANESE CARS are ALSO very AWESOME! SINCE I HATE CAR ACCIDENTS I LOVE the tech on EURO CARS as WELL! 

Dealers will offer you a test drive if they think you are really interested in buying it. Once you buy a SUV,you will never go back to driving the 'normal' type 

I have never purchased a car without test-driving it, and on more than a few occasions even a short test-drive has has made me realise it’s a car I couldn’t live with. 

That’s part of the entire point of a test-drive. The rest of the purpose is to find any obvious faults.

Just be honest with the dealer; “I’m thinking of buying but I’m not sure I’ll find this car will suit me”. 

Dealers don’t mind as long as you appear to be genuinely interested: if you don’t like the car you’re trying then they’ll try to suggest other models they have in stock.

But yes, they are under no obligation to offer anybody a test-drive so will often refuse if they think that you’re just a joy-rider or a no-hoper.

Some dealers insist upon a token deposit and a provisional sales-contract before allowing a test-drive. I always try to avoid that but it’s not always possible, so I make certain that I get it in writing before the drive that my deposit is fully refundable without delay and in the same form I paid it if I change my mind for any reason at all. Also get a receipt for any deposit before the drive. Also “token deposit” means exactly that. £50 to £100 maximum.

I'm always very up front about it.  I tell them I'm comparing vehicles X, Y and Z and that I want to drive whatever it is they sell.  They will try to convince you that the car they sell is better than the competing models, but that's their job.  They key is, no matter how much you fall in love with a car, don't let them know, and drive the other cars anyway.  For REALLY popular cars with limited supply, they may hedge on test driving, but they are aware that a lot of people have no interest in buying. If a dealer hedges about a test drive, I walk.  Immediately. 

I was interested in an Elantra many years ago.  On paper, it looked ideal.  When I test drove, I realized in had a very narrow window sill, and I couldn't comfortably rest my elbow on it.  This may seem very minor, but I drive long distances, and often lean on my left elbow on the window sill.  I wouldn't have known this unless I test drove.  

They will know if you just want to go joy riding and will tell you no car is available.

Sales people in general are experienced in shooting down objections.  Test drive a car.  If you don't want to buy just say "I really don't like it."  Don't give a reason.

Some jacka$$ at a Toyota dealership drove Me around the parking lot, then asked me to sign the papers. You can’t cure stupid, but you can fantasize about maiming it.
