So I have an old wow account starter edition 🤣 and haven't used it since 2017 if I just pay the fee and download the link am I good to go with getting my character back etc ? And is 500 gigs enough space ? Sorry it's been a while 😃

Which expansion pack are you on, and which server are you on? If you know both of these, and the server happens to remain the same as before, then you're good to go. No matter how old, Blizzard doesn't delete these old accounts.
Just a side note: It really isn't worth the monthly subscription to the official Blizzard server. I personally suggest that you go for a private server to play for free, but that's completely up to you of course. And if you're worried about "legality", I assure you that it is 100% legal to play on private servers.

YES, they sell adapters and deals to play them on HD, but they just don't look right.
