Is Pino Donaggio the greatest Italian composer ever?
I'd say so. I mean, his musical score for Brian DePalma's CARRIE (1976) was absolutely amazing in my opinion.

You don't listen to much classical Italian music, do you? I am a career classical music perfotmer and teacher full-time since 1973. I can assure you that the person you cite is hardly near the top of the list of fine Italian composers. But if you like his music, it might be a revelation for you to listen to all the geniuses that inspired him.
