Is 4 miles too long of a walk for a 7yr old?

Yes.
I walk a 15 minute mile. So, 4 miles per hour.If you take a child on a 4 mile walk, that is going to take hours and I think it is too much to ask of a young child.
I wouldn't ask my child to walk that far.
But, apparently hundreds of thousands of kids are doing it after Biden invited them to our county to receive free healthcare, a free education, free hand outs, free food and shelter, the right to vote When they are of age, free vaccinations and $15.00 an hour if and when they get a job.

Depends on the child. If they aren't active, then it's likely too long just like for an adult. If they are active, it can be done without too much issue. I went hiking with my kids at that age further than that. They are slower than I normally would go, but keeping food and water in them they do just fine. Having activities or interesting/fun stops along the way keeps their minds off the distance which is the biggest barrier.

Before I was 7 years old I had to walk to school each and every day and it was like 4 miles to school and I had to walk it everyday

They are capable of it.
But not in one large stretch. You walk that much at a zoo or theme park.
You could do a hike if they rest and eat/drink along the way.
Some kids at that age won’t be able to, while others will find it fun.

Only if it's in the snow and uphill both ways.
