If Gaetz was being extorted by a DOJ official why did he not report the crime as soon as it occurred?

Update:

He could have reported it and gone public with it like he is now.  As far as I know he has only made statements in public and not officially reported the crime.  Now that he has made the accusation publicly it seems he should officially report.  But that would get him in more legal trouble if he is lying, as he probably is.

Update 2:

If his father has been wearing an FBI authorized wire as he claims he just interfered in an ongoing investigation by revealing that.  Either his lies or his crimes just keep piling up.

Gaetz is lying and everyone knows it.

It would have exposed him to sexual trafficking charges.

He did.  He reported the extortion as soon as it occurred.

Being extorted for banging a seventeen years old doesn’t exonerate you for banging the seventeen year old.

    Maybe he did.  Who knows.

Good observation and one point pedo Matt didn't take into account when he decided to go with that "defense"

Conservatives have an excuse for everything.

    Haven't you noticed that?

Umm....Think about that one a minute. Extortion falls under the purview of the DOJ. This is the same DOJ that got away with sending undercover operatives into the Trump campaign then failed to justify it or prove he 'colluded' with anyone, then officially declared itself 'righteous' in under 48 hours after the President of the United States himself brought the accusations against them.

The FBI and DOJ believe themselves to be above the law. Just piss them off and see what happens. They don't even honor Posse Comitatus anymore.

"being extorted" is not a valid defense.
