Visit your eye doctor for a diagnosis, prognosis, and course of treatment.

It is pretty rare for someone your age to be diagnosed with glaucoma. One thing that can cause you to have a high pressure reading is a thick cornea. Measuring the thickness of your cornea should be a step in deciding if you have something that needs to be treated. You should probably also have a visual field and some kind of analysis of your optic nerve head. A high pressure reading during a routine eye exam definitely does not equal a diagnosis of glaucoma.

    I knew children with glaucoma.

Primary infantile glaucoma is a rare developmental defect in the iridocorneal filtration angle of the anterior chamber that prevents aqueous fluid from properly draining from the eye. This obstruction increases the intraocular pressure, which, if untreated, damages the optic nerve.
