More modules usually mean it's faster than a single module.

If you're buying more memory, it should match what you already have. This is going on the assumption that most motherboards will handle a single stick of RAM fine, but will handle pairs differently as they are usually matched for better performance.

I recommend that you buy the second memory slot just like your first one, or you will lose performance or will be experiencing memory errors and blue screens in Windows.
