Movie Section: The Breakfast Club (1985) or Footloose (1984)?

Which movie do you prefer and why? Both are two of my all time favorites, but I think I like Footloose just a little bit better, because of what the movie stands for.

I prefer The Breakfast Club. It's deserving of a great reputation, but I do think it has been exaggerated a bit.

What makes it great, though, is that the viewer can identify more closely with one character over the others and can easily see one's self in the same situation for the most part. High school especially is about cliques, trying to fit in while discovering one's own identity and individuality, which seems like a paradox but the film is all about that, and it isn't even that subtle. It's very relatable, or at least, it used to be.

I've heard the joke that if the events of The Breakfast Club were to occur today, everybody would just be on their cell phones and they wouldn't be forced to interact. Not to wax too philosophical, but maybe there's something to that, and maybe that's why it doesn't resonate with younger viewers the way it did at its inception.

Never seen Footloose, but I do love The Breakfast Club.

Footloose, of course! I loved both the soundtrack and the movie. The Breakfast Club was entertaining, but not more than that.

I've never seen Footloose (dancing movies really aren't my thing). But I saw Breakfast Club, and in my opinion it was just sort of "meh". It was alright but nothing special, not this amazing epic 80s movie that people made it out to be.

I hate them both. I've never even seen Footloose and I still hate it.
