Why do many Muslims end up as atheists?

I'd be interested in seeing some studies. My impression was that few do deconvert. Probably because it would be a death sentence in many Muslim countries. Maybe it's more common in the west. Maybe some of them immigrate here precisely because they do feel imprisoned by their religion and long to be free. So it would be ironic indeed, if we were to institute a blanket ban on Muslim immigrants, when it is precisely the ones coming here who are the ones trying most to get away from that kind of crap.

I've met about a hundred or so Muslims in this country, and I've been to a Muslim nation (Pakistan for about a week). To a man (and woman), every single one of them has been a good decent person, and many of them did not take their religion very seriously, and I would feel safer with them than I would many fundie Christians who are born here. They were mostly Iraqi, Iranian, Bosnian and Kurdish refugees. They got along well with people of other religions, and their children assimilated as well as any other refugee or immigrant.

I'm sure there are a few bad ones here and there, and there are indeed a few who have trouble assimilating, but this is true in any given category of human beings.

So some, who may have been secret doubters in their country of origin, who did not dare speak out, once freed from the threat of death and torture, feel free to shed their religion.

Primarily, Islam is a Fake and it doesn't take too long for anyone to figure it out.

Many Muslims who have become Atheists began by trying to do da'awa or proselytizing and began to have doubts about their Faith when countered by Atheists. Once that happened, it was one swift fall from blind belief. As thir eye opened to the Truth, they checked out Christianity and found it had the same errors that Islam had and decided that there was no God, period.

I know, because I met a lot of Muslims who wanted to convert me and are now Atheist.

I think it would be very difficult to get accurate numbers in countries where rejecting Islam could result in execution. It would take suicidal or pretty stupid person to admit that. Or brave... look what has happened to atheist bloggers in Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Because being an atheist just makes more sense than Islam & Xtianity.

Because the religion of "peace" is anything but.

Many Christians open their eyes and become atheists too.
