An automobile engine spinning rowards the right or left ?

    Of course you can look at which way the belt(s) turn on the front of the engine. I would tend to agree with the anonymous answer for vehicles on wheels. Clockwise viewed from the front or counterclockwise from the driver's seat.

    Because when you give it power, the engine will tend to roll to the right in the rubber motor mounts, which if you have a solid rear axle with open differential will torque the axle the opposite direction to the left, reducing weight on right rear tire resulting in that tire being most likely to spin or burn rubber.

    Depends on the engine type and it is not a simple right or left as - if you start the engine and get someone to look at it whilst it is revved up you will see the engine move to the right or left on its rubber engine mounts this tell you the direction of the torque.

    right or left relating to what? From what I know on many cars (for instance Toyota Corolla, old mini etc) the engine is transversely mounted, meaning the crankshaft is mounted perpendicularly to the length of the car so in that case it would spin in the direction of the car wheels so to speak, but again I bet it could be either direction, in plain English (American or otherwise) it will spin Rearward of Frontward.. .this would AID car handling characteristics if you ask me.

    But thinking further about it, front wheel drives will have transverse engine, while rear wheel drive cars will have longitudinal engines, in that case they can then be either lefties or righties.
