A question for nurses/phlebotomists?
2 out of the last 3 times I was either donating blood or giving blood for a test, the persons/persons either couldnt find a suitable place to stick me or stuck me about 5 times to reach a vein. So my question is is there anyway that I can make a vein easier to locate for suitable sticking? One nurse told me that the next time I know Im going to give blood, drink plenty of water. What says you? Thanks.

In old age my veins are also difficult for the phlebotomist to find. In my situation I consider those missed sticks as payback for all the times I missed a vein on my patients.
Kudos to you for donating blood regularly. Explain your situation to the manager and ask if you can make your appointment when the most experienced phlebotomist is on hand. Remember, with blood donation, they have to use a relatively large needle. That can make the job harder.

I agree with drinking lots of water. It makes your veins "plump" and easier to find.
