India is highly unorganized and mass poverty is obvious but it is still an independent nation. The 7 billion people of the world have to live in some country no matter how poor it is. Now the fact India calls themselves democratic is another issue.

For India's poverty, it is not easy for a rapid population growing nation of over a billion people to remove poverty. India's economy is rapidly growing and their poverty is slowly decreasing but these things will take time. India feels if they split into separate nations, this recovery will be far slower similar to sub-Sahara Africa.
