What types of songs do you like?

It depends on my mood, sometimes sad songs do the trick or like you said, romantic ones, but other times I'm really in a dancey-happy mood so I listen to something more upbeat!

Beautiful, heartbreaking songs with well-written lyrics and soft melodies. Stuff like Anberlin, Copeland, and The Classic Crime.

I like literally all kinds of songs depending on my mood, but I tend to avoid songs with superficial lyrics (most top 40 pop crap nowadays, rap songs that only talk about sex, money, drugs, etc., country songs for their lack of creativity, and so on). I gravitate toward rock music for this reason because there is so much creativity involved, among other things. In rock music, it isn't always about love, heartbreak, dancing, making 'dough' (thouh yes, these are covered in rock music) -- rock goes way past these boundaries and creates something new, extraordinary, and imaginative. And with rock it isn't always about the lyrics -- instrumentality is a big factor in it too. People actually have to have talent and skill to be regarded highly. There are so many untalented and commercial "artists" in pop music especially and though they exists in rock music too, they're not as prevalent. My favorite music genres are psychedelic/progressive rock, folk, and (guilty pleasure) 80s pop.

I like songs that pump you up, and songs that you can picture yourself listening to on a long car drive at night.
