A good battery can last much more than two years if it is kept in a fully-charged condition. The battery in my bike is now ten years old, and still holds a good charge!

Keep in mind that batteries do age, and over time they will all lose their ability to hold a charge. Using them is better than letting them sit idle, but when idle they need to be re-charged regularly to maintain battery life.

Any battery will lose electrical charge over time, and allowing it to completely discharge will seriously shorten its life if it is not re-charged immediately after full discharge.

The rate at which an idle battery loses charge varies quite a bit, depending on ambient temperature. If the bike and battery are kept in near freezing temperatures then it will lose charge more quickly than when warm.

If it is always warm where the bike is stored, then one month without use should not make a big difference in the charge retained in the battery, but when the month that it is sitting idle is nearly over , it would be best to give the battery a trickle/slow overnight charge (1 ampere per hour rate of charge) before beginning to use it again.

That way it will always have a good charge and will last longer.

The battery doesn't care as to which bike it is installed in . It needs to be charged throughout the storage period however to slow down degradation of the cells. The have battery tenders for this purpose .

It is NOT necessary to replace properly "tended" batteries every year. Quality batteries should last several years or more.

"Sealed" batteries tend to last longer and are less prone to damaging bike due to acid overflow .

Remember too, that a "dead" battery MAY just need a" charge". Lots of people naively replace a good battery because it is discharged when they try to use it. Check water level in each cell (if not a "sealed" battery ), try to charge it , and see if it holds a charge BEFORE just replacing it. Good luck.

If the bike sits for a couple of months, why are you worried about charging the battery on a yearly basis?

If the bike sits for 2 months, I recommend putting a trickle charger on it to keep it charged up. Batteries generally last longer if they are kept fully charged as opposed to cycles of draining and recharging

If the scooter doesnt start, then you will have to change the battery..but that is only the last resort, you could get it re-charged. Take it to the showroom and ask them to check if it needs recharging..

Hi that is why you are having to replace it so often as the period of lay off it is discharging and need to be kept in tip top condition. being used keeps it topped up with an electrical charge.

Yes and No.Try Giving the battery a jump start and then rev your engine each time you start your engine after a while.

Batterys work on simple electrolysis and in order to run it smoothly it needs activation.
